That video is shocking, and the picture of Jules without his helmet is just very sad. To me, it really feels like a dark twist of faith. Let's wish for the best...

Make it 4...

Joining you there mate.

I honestly did not expect anything this fast, or the tractor to be pushed up like that.

same here...

Ditto, I can't believe the forces of a spinning car would shift a tractor like that.

We have to remember what he did during the Williams pits fire, after his Barcelona 2012 win.

Are you talking about carrying his cousin out of the pitbox?

Question: those flashing lights as we see in the picture, do they only come up under safety car or every time there's a yellow?
This is just exiting Dunlop 1 heading to the accident's location, I didn't find this angle in the TV footage between Sutil and Bianchi's crashes.

Also, what car were they following in the onboard channel, for those who have it? Do you see anything there? I'm not trying to stir up the past, but this is haunting unfortunately.

No words to describe any of this. Just terrible luck really. Always feel a loss for words in situations like this, although many of you have summed things up pretty well here. TBK-L keeping me updated during work yesterday was greatly appreaciated, so thank you all for that.
Watching the video is very shocking, I just can't believe he wasn't instantly...you know what. Shows how incredible the helmets are. Let's just keep all hope that the news we get from now on is positive...

IIRC they mirror whatever flag the marshal post is displaying. There isn't a light equivalent of the SC board.

I used to think these yellow lights are displayed for every yellow flag, same for blue flags, that, IIRC, we saw, for example, in Singapour.
But I may be wrong, I didn't took attention about that.

There is. Underneath the yellow square there is an added little LED-display, which shows "SC" in white letters on black background when the safety car is deployed. The squares themselves always match the flag the marshall waves there.

words cannot describe what I've just seen.

I never thought that in these days of F1 we would witness such a freak accident.

Does anybody else here hate seeing non-motorsport fans talk about accidents like this on facebook and twitter etc?

Does my nut in how wrong they get things and have very little common sense.

Or maybe its just me.

Yes, there's a whole 'discussion' on the Facebook page of our biggest sports outlet about "look at the marshal waving the green flag!"

You're not alone, bro.
Two of my FB "friends" posted both the newspaper article about the video, nothing more.
Not even a kind word, "Get well soon", or anything else.

Fuckers.

When it comes to these kind of moments, I just tend to ignore social media... Too much anger towards many people would be created inside me.

It's even more sad,in my country (as F1 is just pay per view last 2,3 seasons),and pretty sure in all smaller countries,F1 now got more air time because of accident then ever before last seasons, despite great races, great battles and championship deciders.
It's just horrible how they talk about motorsport just when injuries, critical conditions, and deaths arrive. Such idiotic world. Same thing for the facebook likes from persons who don't even know what sport, team or driver is talked about.

I've seen loads of comments about the green flag, I gave up replying in the end.

Even the Guardian article that was billed as "5 things Formula 1 must change after the Bianchi crash" focused on things like the failure to move the start time and the fact the FIA don't demand the teams run the right tyres for conditions and only mentioned "F1 needing to look at its procedures regarding recovery vehicles too" as a 1 line afterthought.

In the aftermath of a serious incident such as this, everyone is a fully trained accident investigator
