Some photos I took this weekend, from various parts of the track.

The last couple of laps were good, but what happened on the final one.

The Massa vs Kubica battle where they swapped spots 4-5 times in 1 lap.

Are you sure you mean 1996? I don't remember anything happening this year, other than Hill winning the title.

I was a great Damon Hill fan so him winning the title made it so great, though in retrospect he could have crashed and he would have still won.

Adelaide 1995. Not for the final lap, for the whole race.

One thing I've never really understood is in the 1995 Season Review, on the last lap Hill laps Panis as this somehow saves Panis from doing another lap and having the engine go. However, Hill had already lapped Morbidelli twice, so even if the Mugen had exploded with the ferocity of Krakatoa if Panis hadn't been lapped, Panis would have still finished 2nd.

Yeah, they both finished 2 laps behind. Panis would be a lap ahead of Morbidelli hadn't Hill lapped him.

Thought so, I enjoyed it for the same reason

Spa 2008 was also quite exciting.

Just realised that there is only a one week gap between Australia and Malaysia this year. :D

Adelaide '85 as well, bit obscure. But I remember the Ligier's were running 2nd and 3rd comfortably when 4 corners to go they collided. One of them limped over the line barely to get 3rd.

Thought it was the 2nd last lap? I recall Streiff bumping into Laffite at the hairpin. Then Streiff was limping with one hell of a wobbly wheel on the last lap to the finish. I will have a gander on YouTube.

I said it during the race, man up to the teams bitching and close the pit lane like they did in 2008....

Its the safest option (even with Deltas having cars pass by the speed of the accident worrying about their car suddenly cutting out and fiddling with buttons not paying attention to what's around them isn't the safest option) and as close as we can get to the fairest too.

It may penalise the leader a tad but, you know what, if he's in the fastest car, in these days of DRS, KERS and tyres its not going to be the end of the world, the fastest car will get to the front by the end.

And if it has the side effect of making the races more exciting, well whoo-hoo for everyone!
(This rule alone pretty much made the 2008 season more watchable and saved the German GP from being a dull parade into an exciting overtaking filled race....)

It works fine in american racing, I don't know why F1 are so stubborn about it.

Back on the subject of Amazing last laps, I'll always remember Villenueve's kamakazi attempt at Irvine at the final hairpin on the last lap.

Murray Walker's commentary sticks in my mind too "And diving down the inside...VILLENUEVE! LOOK AT VILLENUEVE!! OHHH HE'S OFF! OFF! VILLENUEVE OFF!

Though I can't seem to find it on Youtube :(

I also had trouble finding it. I could only find this one. I think its Italian commentary. Its about 5:40 into it...Also look for Michael letting Ralf unlap himself and Ralf going on to take the last point after Coulthard spins on the last lap.....I forgot how good the last lap was! Villeneuve catching the cars ahead of him hand over fist....only to balls it up on the last corner.

Yeah that's the one, a crazy last lap, no doubt.

I often wonder exactly how badly Jaques blocked Alesi as he came back onto the track but it wasn't caught very well and never replayed, to my knowledge.

Just wait till that screws someone that is liked (like Jenson), and advantages Vettel. This forum would have a melt down.

The most fair way to handle is a Safety Car is the Code 60s that the 24 Hour Series uses, but that's a drastic change.

I honestly don't consider drivers driving eachother completely off he road multiple times an overly great battle tbh. A lot of dive-bombing and praying with no regard for the other.

A great battle is supposed to take place on the track, not on the runoff areas.
