That sounds like a press-announcement that was 10 years late.

What could they possibly hope to gain from a driver who last drove an F1 car when they were 3 litre V10s with grooved tires and a bucketload of driver aids?

Surely using Fisichella would have been a better option as he's not only already a Ferrari test driver but also has more recent F1 experience in current spec F1 cars.

Also are they even allowed to test at Suzuka?

Wasn't the HRT supposed to be launched today?

Yes it was but HRT have been rather quiet about it.

Why can't I be surprised about that?

Yeah, it was quite unexpected announcement from the Ferrari. I think they are doing this because Fissichella is needed at Melbourne as the 3rd driver, Gene is doing some simulation runs and Salo would go for a test run with new components in the car, but they would call this test to be a PR-run.

How ever, Ferrari has said that they've wanted to have Mika Salo specifically to do testing for their modern F1 cars.

Mika Salo's reaction was same as anyone's: "Why did they call me?"

They are supposedly giving it a shakedown at Barcelona although that was supposed to happen over an hour ago, and nothing yet.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Where is the actual official announcement about Salo? So far all we know is that Salo has been announced as Ferrari's test driver and will conduct testing outside of the regulated testing agreement on a circuit holding a GP. I find it hard to believe. But I want to believe.

HRT posted on twitter that they just started the engine (Don't know when they posted that), so they had/will have their shakedown today.

They also had a mechanic running down the pit lane asking a GP2 team for bolts.

That looks like the first Force India with all the Kingfisher stickers taken off.

Oh, by the way, I like how out of two sponsors, one is displayed on the inside of the rear wing, where it can't be seen.

Also, why is Tonio there? 8O

More news about Mika Salo's testing: It's two years old car at Ferrari Racing Days -event held at Suzuka on 17th and 18th of March. Last year at Spielberg it was Marc Gene driving in the Ferrari Racing Days event.

So not as big scoop as it seemed to be in the first place.

Tonio probably is still with the team, because of the money he still gets. If he would race elsewhere his contract could be cancelled.

Clearly these colours formed their insperation (Only in a different layout).

De La Rosa and Liuzzi look quite similar actually.
