They should force the big spending teams to run 3 cars at Austin already or face financial penalty's (to be paid to the small teams). They put the small teams out of business by refusing any sort of budget capping. Now they should get punished for that imo.

The budget cap and customer cars was the reason those three teams, along with the unsuccessful applicants had signed up to try for a place on the grid. The established teams really don't care about anyone but themselves and it's about time the FIA put their foot down over costs.

Though knowing the FIA, they'll just fuck that up :slaphead:

Agreed. How often do the fia suggest something, teams moan and it gets scrapped.
Yes, teams do need to provide input. But this sport needs running by someone who doesn't have a interest in a team. It's so often ridiculous. Grow some balls and sense fia

congratu-fucking-lations F1. The lack of actions from all involving parties costs us another 2 teams and as a result 18 cars in the country they all wish to conquer with F1....

let's give 'em all a big round of applause.

in the 70s to design a F1 car you only needed a very good engineer, a desk and a clean piece of paper. You buy an engine like cosworth or something and you have your fair chance.

nowdays an engine has the tecnhology of a spaceship and you need 10 enginers only to make it start. You need a windtunnel, you need a full CFD department ( it takes week for an accurate CFD on a computer, so you need lots of powerful workstations ) a simulator department, this only concerning the development. And you're still lucky if you're less than 6 or 7 seconds slower than the big teams.
there are simply not the conditions for small private teams to compete in f1. You may be there, stay there some years, always in the back. In the end first time something goes wrong you're out.

plus, how many times do cars like marussia or catheram get shown during the race apart when they are getting lapped? i honestly won't miss those teams. I miss the idea that these kind of teams can still have a place in nowdays F1.

If only Marussia had gone bankrupt before the japanese gp, that would've saved Bianchi's from crashing there

That's meaningless if you're like me and believe in fate. If Marussia hadn't been at the Japanese GP then Bianchi would have had an accident doing some else.

What are the concequences for the championship? Can Marussia keep their 9th place if they don't compete in every race?

If so, maybe that's part of the reason why they're not going to US. Catherham can't beat them to 9th place. Having said that I guess if Caterham do Abu Dhabi then with double points they could in theory beat them.

Come to think of it, maybe the double points were not meant to be the catch for the championship decider, but for the smaller teams for the money that's given for ten best teams only.

Will Buxton has suggested that Marussia are sitting out the final 3 races to focus resources onto 2015.

Given whats happening at Caterham & how bad there car was anyway Marussia pretty much have at least 10th (Possibly 9th depending on what Sauber do) in the constructors championship done. Along with the prize money that will pay out I believe this also means they have there transportation costs paid for by FOM next year.

Perhaps missing the final few races of this year will save enough to allow them to pay for the engine supply or put that little bit more towards next years car, We can hope at least.

The thing to watch out for is next weekend as all entry's for 2015 must be submitted by November 1st.

I always thought that if team missed a race in the season for issues like this, then they would forfeit any monies earned for the following year. As in, you have to complete the whole season in order to get money next year.

Same here, maybe because they've been given permission to miss the races, that doesn't apply.
But knowing Bernie, it does, and nobody has asked for clarification, and they'll get a nasty shock when the cheque don't arrive.

It would make financial sense for Marussia to miss at least 2 of the 3 races remaining because from what I've heard, the difference in prize money between 9th and 10th is around 3 million pounds. They saw what Caterham was doing and decided to follow them. Also, it could be to preserve funds for paying Ferrari.

There is nothing in the rules about how qualifying knockout works with only 18 cars. They should eliminate 6 cars in each segment imo, 2 cars in Q1 will be boring.
