Well done Lando tbh. He woke me up in the end there.

Maybe it's not going to be so easy for Red Bull the rest of the year?

Maybe in the twistier tracks, not so sure of that in the fast ones.

Yikes what a snoozer. That was about as bad as the worst Monaco GP minus the walls, yachts and bikini clad women.

Nonsense. Took a while to get going but it turned out to be a decent race with Norris running down Max.

now that's a San Marino classic. Nothing much happening until the 2nd place reaches for the leader but cannot pass

Not a lot happened, but the last 10 laps made up for it. Even if the chances of Norris actually being able to overtake, were not high at all.

That's the first time in a while that Max had to earn a win, I think.

Pretty telling when the only highlights they could play in the cool-down room were Albon's 'unsafe release', Perez's minor trip through the gravel and a couple of DRS passes...

Not that much happened but promising for the season that McLaren are getting on terms with Red Bull, at the very least Red Bull will need to keep working on this year's car rather than moving on to next year's

I dunno, they definitly went OTT with chicanes after what happened in 94

Yeah, Tamberello I understand, but they didn't need to put one in before Tosa (Villeneve) and we're running around without the final chicane these days too

TBH you could straighten aqua minerali a bit too, you probably need the chicane after that to keep sports cars on the ground over the hill but it badly needs a redesign it'll never get

Some circuits were designed with a natural flow and then they couldn't think to do anything but some artificial chicanes to slow the cars down (Which IIRC were supposed to be temporary while they worked on the cars IIRC) and tracks like Imola went from hosting great races to absolute parades

And yeah they famously have a river running behind Tamberello but hell, even a gravel trap and a tyre barrier would've saved Senna's life, no idea why it was left with a scrubby bit of tarmac (not FIA high grip tarmac, natch) and a concrete wall.

And I've thought this for all series too, not just F1. Most of the time its "fix the car, not the track" but with Imola it's "the cars are much safer now, unbreak what you did before to break it"

That "race" joins an infamous list alongside Hungary 2002, Belgium 2007, Valencia 2011, France 2018 and others.

The track is not suitable for these cars and should be dropped for Hockenheim.

Yeah the Villeneuve chicane is unnecessary. Would be a nice over taking spot if they got rid of it with a sweeper instead.

They could have kept some speed and just turn early, if the run-off can't be extended, or made some medium speed corner like the one after Tosa.

I rather enjoyed having a break from Crofty this weekend, Harry Benjamin did a great job. Sounded a bit nervous initially, but overall did a much better job than Crofty.

I used to loathe Chandhok as a commentator (he's great at expert analysis though) but he did a great job too.

I went to sleep after the pitstops and boy I'm glad I did.
