That's fucking insane. Isn't that what Winklehock did in F2?

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I'm amazed that doesn't happen more often with flat bottomed GT cars (used to be more prevalent on hills and bumps with the old GT1s). Wouldn't mind that particular piece of engineering being removed.

Unbelievable...
RIP to that spectator...
The upcoming safety discussion after this crash fucks me up already...
I bet you Flugplatz will be a red zone for spectators soon....

Wow, no words for that, that's incredibly tragic for everyone involved.

I remember some people complaining a lot about the decision to put high FIA-fences around the track. Could have been even worse without them...

Spectacular crash but horrible results. Remind me the radical crash at Spa last year, as it could also have been fatal for watchers.
Very tragic accident. RIP.

You could also argue that the fences give spectators a false sense of security, but that's a convo for another day.

A fence like that just keeps ordinary debris out, not a whole car.

You and I know that Gaara, you can't see what happened to the spectator fortunately but whenever I went racing I never stood in the line of fire, no matter how big the fence was, it's why the big wall was errected at Brands because of something similar that happened. Back when I first started going to races there was no fences, you saw a car get air you didn't hang around to see what happened.

there are places where those fences are needed, and places where it is unnecessary and just destroying the view. Karrussell comes to mind.

In a high speed flat out corner like Flugplatz they are definitely needed.

Do other cars do this elsewhere too or just the Glickenhaus?

deggis, that's not Flugplatz in your video.

I've seen some cars get light over the crest on that spot in the video, but the wheels go hardly of the ground there.

I think that's what he's pointing out. No, never seen any other car do that there.
