There is footage but they aren't showing it. Both crashes in that area had aftermath footage that hasn't been replayed.

Will the footage ever be released? I mean normally, even if driver was hurt (or even killed), the replay is always shown. Of course there is a list of unseen accidents, but that's because cameras missed them. In F1 accident of Perez (2011), Massa's (2009), Kovalainen's (2008) and Kubica's (2007) was replayed pretty quickly.

I've no idea. Even Tim Mullens one, which we seen a very short clip of the aftermath, hasn't been shown, despite him being ok. I expected at least the aftermath of it to be shown during the highlights but they haven't.

well, judging by this footage, it seems the crash itself was missed by the cameras, doesn't it look like? :?

Race director just confirmed that Marcus Mahy is in intensive care in an hospital in Liege, but he has woken up this morning, is responsive to all stimuli. He will be operated tomorrow.

Thanks for that video. Looks like he went off all by himself there (you see him driving alone ahead of the pack). Weird.

You can see some blue smoke just before he leaves the track, tyre failure or car failure.

Puncture is a possibility. The state of the track has been pretty bad and we've seen a lot of punctures.

I am. It's bad ass. I love MarcVDS, but pushing Rast off the road there wasn't ok.

Well, Rast was 1.5/2 seconds per lap faster, it had to happen

Further update from autosport.com:

Quote:
Spa 24 Hours: Marcus Mahy now conscious in hospital after accident
By Gary Watkins Sunday, July 27th 2014, 12:50 GMT

British amateur driver Marcus Mahy is conscious in the wake of the accident that caused the Spa 24 Hours to be red-flagged shortly before one-third distance.

The Kessel Ferrari driver has been woken from a medically-induced coma, is reacting to stimulation and can move all of his limbs.

The 53-year-old will remain in the CHU hospital in Liege for an undisclosed period and is expected to undergo surgery on his neck in the coming days.

Mahy was airlifted to hospital after an incident on the exit of Stavelot Corner involving the Rinaldi Ferrari driven by Vadim Kogay.

The race had to be halted for the medical helicopter to land on the track.

I was watching. Great battle, shame that the BMW couldn't give it 100% as it lost both the ABS and traction control.

Great race overall, shame about the wrecks, but outside of that ~2!hour frame, the racing was great!
