Dire times ahead. The only thing I saw coming was the spec tires, but as much as I'd like it to stay open, it's not that worrying.

The tire competition was pretty much already over in 2014. ACO imposed an "open tire" rule and that, essentially, kills competition as they don't bring the cutting edge compounds/carcass anymore because the competitors can analyse it afterwards. Before, as still is in LMP1, the tires were property of the manufacturer, which means the rivals didn't have access to it.

Omg, that Nissan video is so stunning 8)

Newest Nissan LMP1 drivers; Max Chilton (yup) and Alex Buncombe.

Max Chilton??? Ffs! I'd have put in a random GT Academy winner instead...

Well, I was expecting a more high-profile lineup for Nissan. It's good they got a couple of young talented drivers (Tincknell, Mardenboorugh), but, with all due respect, I think a team spearheded by Marc Genè and Michael Krumm could have a good Le Mans result against Audi, Porsche and Toyota only if the car is nothing short of exceptional. And I don't think that will be the case.

I guess they don't want Kals as a fan.

is the perfect combination, a FWD based on a delta wing and Max Chilton, I can't see them losing

Well at least they know he'll bring the car home. Except when he hits his teammate...

Who cares about winning? IT IS DIFFERENT

IMHO Gene is least questionable, besides being known for a test driver, clearly is supposed to be the developmental driver as he has experience from recent LMP1s. And in the Audis showed still ok pace.

Don't get me wrong, I think Genè is a perfect choice as a reliable and developmental driver for a new team (as is Krumm), but certainly not as a "top" driver. I think a team who thinks big as Nissan needed somebody realiable AND fast, somebody who can put hotlap after hotlap. But maybe they all know there aren't going to be any hotlaps this season.... :p

This isn't a good start. Let's hope it doesn't end up like the AMR-One

Small set back but can't see any similarities to AMR-One...

I think at least Toyota had similar misfortune with unrepairable tub when they started (which meant they had to skip Spa iirc?). Lesson: bake enough tubs.

I'd rather break a car at Sebring and find it's weakness than turn up and LeMans and end up taking it home in buckets when the part breaks in the Porsche curve.

ESM will be going back to the HPD ARX-03 for Sebring and Silverstone, then to a Ligier P2, then back to an ARX-04b.

Nissan won't race until Le Mans.
