We didn't say it was a PR stunt, we merely asked. It's sketchy either way. We have calls into the track and police

But a guy driving onto a VW Polo race yelling "This is the new Polo" is curious, is it not?

Sevenoaks Police are investigating this ridiculous thing. Saw it described elsewhere as "galactically stupid" which is pretty spot on.

Yes i was there and there are going to be some deep consequences.. just for shits an giggles.. heres the twat who did it..

I have blocked out the number at the request of the MSA..

We have now all been asked to call the police and make a statement about it, also there are formal complaints going in about some of the officials who were on duty.. certain ones who in my (and a few others opinions) need shooting..

Wooo

We made the daily Fail.. thats gotta be good for business.. NOT

Personally im finding all this now to be very distracting.. Sometimes wish the gathered crowd that were shoutin abuse at him were allowed to get near him, as we'd now be talking about something else!

I cringed each time the girl pulled at the wheel. Security was lapse but it shouldn't have to be tight, you shouldn't expect to ever have to deal with this kind of behaviour. Humanity maaaan.

Exactly, you've always been able to drive trackside at Brands at any time due to it's unique layout, but 99.9% of people who goto a track know not to do it. The only difference to my time is you were never allowed through the tunnel in a car once a race had started, you could only go down in between races unless you were on foot (they used to close the access road before you got to the track access point), but now it seems you can go down as and when, although the old system may not have stopped someone determined, it would have stopped him.

It would probably make a fantastic study for a student or something to dig in to society and find out roughly when this kind of behaviour went from being considered insane to fantastic. Somebody should sit this kid down and show him the Tom Pryce video, and see how he reacts to it, I bet he just laughs, it's very sad that there are people out there with no comprehension for how their actions can effect other people.

I guess the only saving grace is the Mail isn't making him out to be some sort of folk hero.

Seriously, I don't think that this behaviour has ever been considered "fantastic" by anything more then maybe 1% of society. Anyone with half a brain, regardless of their age, can see that what that dude did is fucking stupid. He is a complete and utter tosser, and anyone who thinks otherwise is probably also a complete and utter tosser.

I hope he gets locked up for it.

I do feel somewhat sorry for his girlfriend, though.

I hope she's no longer his girlfriend

I think your 1% figure is being conservative though.

Finally got to see the videos, utterly astounded by a couple of things. Firstly the stupidity of the participants and their actions, secondly the amount of people who are commenting on DailyFail saying "awesome!" and those on Jalopnik saying "PR Stunt". Lord above.

Track days are there for a reason.

I can Guarantee that it was 100% NOT a Pr stunt (if you'd all like to pass that on) cause if it was i would have been asked to photograph it!!

Yea, if there's one thing that came from this, he didn't get any that night!..

Hopefully in the not too distant future he will be getting plenty though.. From the sisters at shower time...

Plenty of stupidness from that driver. Can't possibly believe it would happen.

I have heard of road car encroaching on the track during test sessions back in 1950s. But never thought it would happen in this day during a race!

This is probably the worst case of a stray car on a race track I know of. Mexico 1993 Superbikes.

He would score incredibly high on this: http://psycnet.apa.org/journals/ccp/28/6/477/

LOL I won't tell you what we did once during a test session at Cadwell then back around 1992/93

I said to the Mrs earlier, great timing on the Schumacher announcement, since it's redirected the Motorsport news focus from "idiot strays onto track" to "icon leaves hospital".

False imprisonment of his girlfriend. Hadn't thought of that one.

Hope they get him on another charge to do with the actual driving as well though, to dissuade copycats thinking of doing it on their own...

well we asked why the police hadnt been called and the Fat controller idiot in charge of the meeting told me that there was nothing that they could have done... yet the above was one of the suggestions from out technical scrutineer who is an Ex Copper but he was told to "sod off and mind his own business!"

So, in the last 6 months British Motorsports authorities have been responsible (irresponsible) for the death of 4 people and now this because of their complacency and arrogance (and over bearing egos)..

get this cretin locked up and then have a good sort out is whats needed..

There's more in the Autosport report, including quote from Palmer.
