The 47th edition of the Suzuka's Summer Endurance Race is ongoing this weekend, with the racing starting just a few hours time. This year's race will be apart of the Intercontinental GT Championship, unlike in years past as a Super GT race or a non-championship event. Suzuka is the 3rd round of the 2018 Intercontinental GT Championship, and this event will feature cars of GT3 & Super GT GT3000 regulations. Just past the 4 hour mark now. #888 Team GruppeM Mercedes is in the lead with Maricello behind the wheel, #43 Strakka Mercedes is in second and the #87 M-Sport Bentley is in third. |

Just past half-way now, #888 GruppeM Mercedes is still leading, #08 and the #018 cars are battling for 9th presently. |

around 2 or 3 hours left in the race, the #888 is still in the lead. #991 car was given the black & white flag for a incident that also involved the #911 car |

#911 car went off track at 130R after avoiding a slower car that was running on the inside line |

The comms were terrible and if the guy sounded like a radio DJ, he literally is, some people identified him as a radio DJ in Japan, apparently does some general event broadcasting there but clearly he had never seen a race car before. Also apparently the commentators only had access to a live timing screen. Sample: https://streamable.com/vkx7w Even though SRO was not the promoter they need to step in next time and sort out the broadcasting side. Also the geoblocking of streams wasn't because of SRO, it was because the promoter had previously done exclusive deals. Stephane Ratel actually said if it had been up to them it would have been available worldwide beause that's what they prefer (refreshing to hear that). So guess that could be the case in future and I'd hope SRO could convince them to hire a proper commentary team. Once I got a stream I just couldn't stand him at all. Even that uber depressed Portuguese commentator was better. |
