Some more info here.

It's a shame they've had to basically throw away the work they did on the other cars because the FIA and CAMS wouldn't let them be homologated. I'm guessing they didn't have a choice with the Halo, either.

Looks wise it is a letdown, but at least it's something and they should still be spectacular and sound better then most open wheel series currently operating..

Front end looks like a Formula Renault ca 2005... anyway, an "Australian Indycar" sounds fun, if they can get some proper drivers involved.

"Australian Indycar" should really be a "Bathcar" shouldn't it?

Oh, if only open wheel race cars had claimed Bathurst all those years ago... :excited:

Touring cars reign supreme in this part of the world so it'll be interesting to see how it goes

assuming when seeing the close up of the chassis vin sticker that it was built by the USA side of Ligier (aka Crawford which built Grand-Am era Daytona Prototypes) here in the Charlotte area.

S5000 will be headlining the Shannons Nationals schedule in 2019 along with TCR Australia. Discussions with Supercars & New Zealand based tracks are still ongoing for additional races & a mini Tasman Cup series

That is pretty nice, hopefully they can actually get a grid together in time.

I'm talking F1 champions, Le Mans winners, Indy 500 winners

Well, I'm glad they're aiming high

The fact the first driver is Rubens Barrichello about 5 years after he's retired isn't the biggest poach in the world

Also, where is the series pitching itself, on the support ladder, as a Veterans series like Formula Masters from about 15 years ago, or their own thing with their own stars?

I guess they can maybe use the big names to give themselves a bit of a foothold and then create their own stars, is that the strategy?

Barrichello has never retired. After Indycar he's raced in Brazilian stock cars, even won the championship.

So the "confirmed" grid for Sandown so far stands at:

Team BRM
- Rubens Barrichello
- (Unconfirmed 2nd Car)

AGI Sport
- John Martin
- (Unconfirmed 2nd car)

Eggleston Motorsport
-Will Brown

Albert Callegher team
- Michael Gibson

???
- Matthew Brabham

And unconfirmed are:

Irving Vincent
- Beau Beaton
(Team & driver showed up at the Phillip Island test day, no substantial plans announced)

Garry Rogers Motorsport
- ???
(It would make sense that GRM would fill spaces in the field with any extra cars they make)

Probable drivers include Tim Macrow, who was the lead test driver for the car and Ricky Capo & Luis Leeds who were also at the PI test day.
