Just received the official Formula 4 press release:

"Nach einer folgenden Safety-Car-Phase entschied die Rennleitung, das Rennen mit roten Flaggen abzubrechen. Vorausgegangen war ein Unfall von Jannes Fittje (15, Langenhain, Motopark), der wegen eines beschädigten Frontflügels die Kontrolle über sein Auto verloren hatte und in die Streckenbegrenzung rutschte. Fittje wurde daraufhin einem Check im Medical Center unterzogen und konnte es wenig später wieder verlassen."

the first ever races for the Formula 4 Australian Championship is tomorrow at Townsville. The races will be shown live on FOX Sports 5 (along with other V8SC support races) in Australia.

while that is a shame, it doesn't shock me, especially with what CAMS is doing to the national level Formula 3 and Formula Ford series because of Formula 4. Still has 2 more cars then the Indy Lights race at Milwaukee this weekend though

I must say, I'm not completely convinced that Formula 4 isn't going to either end up being another stepping stone to the V8's or end up like the old Formula 3 series. I do kind of hope it succeeds though, they killed a very good series (Formula Ford) for it.

Formula 4 is basically what Formula BMW used to be. Now if only they'd get some system in place where the champion (or top 3) automatically gets a seat in the higher formula all the way up to F1
