I dunno if it is to early or not, but most of the news I would expect to come from this series now will probably be about the new IRL season. Which will aparently have A three car Penske operation in it as they are hightailing it out of Grand-Am (Along with Porsche).

Maybe for Indy but Sharp is concentrating on running his GT2 team next year, hence why he left Highcroft.

Sharp will run two Ferrari F430's next season with sponsorship from Patron. I guess they will somehow be working with Patron. Sharp has hired Ed Brown as a 2nd driver for the team.

Ed Brown owns Patron.

IZOD is expected be announced as the title sponsor on Thursday.

Quote:
The new deal is "supposedly worth $10 million a year and is rumored to include $100,000 per car plus some help for Ryan Hunter-Reay in landing a full-time ride for 2010." Miller says the length of the contract is believed to be three or five years.

-Sharp will remain in the ALMS
-Fernandez is out of cash and has no intent field ALMS or IRL team
-de Ferran status remains questionable for 2010. Apparently he's having trouble finding sponsorship.

de Ferran supposidly had sponsorship, (Panasonic?) but they have no interest in the IRL. The deal was orig. supposed to be for the ALMS and de Ferran tried bringing it over to the IRL.

Fernandez has aparently run the coffers dry from the 'diversity' aspect of Lowe's. No more $$ in that budget means no more $$$ for Fernandez. Fernandez's schtick has always been to hit up the diversity aspect of a company for sponsorship, see Quaker State. It was working quite well for awhile but it has proven to be unreliable.

Expect Sharp to run Indy, but a full season of Patron Racing for the IRL is most likely out of the question.

I honestly did not expect this...um...at all. If it happens good for the IRL, and an interesting bet on IZOD's part. Faltering TV ratings aparently does not scare them.

It is rather odd that IZOD and William Rast are involved as much as they are in this series. I never figured the demographic would fit.

They should spend some of that money on buying themselves some decent TV coverage like Nascar does.

NASCAR get paid by the tv networks, just like IndyCar. their deal just involves more zeroes.

Mor on IZOD title sponsorshp.........

Exactly what the series is getting directly is questionable. Considering the $10 Million is being split up. IZOD spent $6 Million on marketing IndyCar this year.

Quote:
The Izod IndyCar Series will formally be announced Thursday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Financial terms of the deal are not expected to be announced, but Brown said the asking price was $10 million a year for at least five years, a figure that will be divided among the series, its television partners and Izod's advertising and marketing campaigns.

Comcast Corp and General Electric Co are closer to a deal to give Comcast a 51 percent stake in NBC Universal and a formal announcement may be made in the coming week. Some believe this will help Versus get to ESPN level. That remains to be seen.

Seen some reports around the web that Ryan Hunter-Reay is talking with Andretti Racing to take Mutoh's seat next year. If the deal goes ahead he would likely take Izod sponsorship with him.

If only Andretti can return to it's great performances that lead them to 3 series titles.

If only Marco Andretti can show some talent again. He was great on the more difficult tracks in '06 and also that time he ran at Sebring, but man, he sucked this year. What the hell happened?

Sources: Danica near NASCAR deal

Quote:
Danica Patrick is nearing completion of a two-year contract with JR Motorsports, the NASCAR Nationwide Series operation owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr., and a source close to the negotiations described them as "in the final phase." The partnership is expected to make its on-track debut during next February's Daytona Speedweeks. Both the Patrick and Earnhardt camps declined comment. Patrick will compete in NASCAR's second-largest series for JR Motorsports while continuing to race full-time for Andretti Green Racing in IndyCar. Earnhardt and Patrick already have a corporate connection, in current sponsorship deals with GoDaddy.com. The Web site registration service is a sponsor on JR Motorsports' #88 Chevy, which has been earned four Nationwide Series wins this season with Brad Keselowski at the wheel. Keselowski is leaving the team at season's end to drive for Penske Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. GoDaddy.co, also recently signed on to sponsor Hendrick's #5 Chevy beginning in 2010. That car is currently driven by Mark Martin, who is signed through 2011.(

Assuming if all goes well. She'll replace Martin in 2012.

Technically yes, but if you delve into the figures the money flows both ways.
