Ouch I do not want to imagine what would have happened to Ryan Briscoe or Kenny Brack ... Maybe it would be better to bring back the old gearshift and introduce "lighter" cars easier to use.

Briscoe was in a Panoz when he flipped into the fence.

Yeah. RLR moved to G-Force/Panoz in 2004.

Looks as though Will Power will have a full time drive next year.

You could pass with the Handford....there was strategy involved and it required a modicum of talent behind the wheel.

And there it is. Rose tints at there best. The Handford was the ultimate in artificial racing, but yet your sitting critising the Dallara for it, whilst praising CART for the exact same thing.

As for Ed Carpenter, CART had it's share of god awful drivers, even in the glory years. Dennis Vitolo, who spent most of his later years spinning under yellow. Or how about the epicness that was Shigeaki Hattori?

Rose. Tints.

How could you forget Guido Dacco?

Randy Lewis developed a habit of colliding with leaders when being lapped. He took out Rick Mears, Mario Andretti and Danny Sullivan along his merry way...

In terms of Ed Carpenter I also think that he would've been in IndyCars only with a lot of $$$ if Tony George didn't own Vision. It would be much easier for him back in 1996-2001 years and I suspect he could have won a race or two then.

I don't think any car, whether it be Panoz, Dallara, Lola, Reynard, would survive impacts like those fence crashes. But theres no doubt that in rear impacts, Panoz had some terrible records with safety, and that is something they carried over to the DP01.

Awesome news on Will Power. :D

I'm surprised how Will Power, a talented driver with a perfect name, hasn't been used for marketing purposes on IndyCar yet. With that name and talent you would think he'd already be in top series with big sponsors backing him, but no.

Glad to hear that he'll be racing next year!

Or the more likely reason is that the IRL is incompetent at promoting anyone but Danica.

You could argue they're incompetent at doing that too.

Rumors say, that there are two concepts considered for the new chassis. One is an evolution of the Dallara, the other one is said to be a mexture of a sportscar and a motobike ans is being developed by a ganassi engineer.

Is that black car in the picture the evolution of Dallara? If it does, then it looks fine. I once read somewhere else that a group of engineering students from the US would design the car for 2011, with a picture of very lunatic car sketch, with no wings and extremely ugly. I really hope IndyCar doesn't start with exotic "revolutionary" ideas If they want to make the series as good as in the past. IndyCar is a classic top open wheel car and tradition must be kept!
