The Birmingham street race required an act of British Parliament, and it is the only city in the UK where street racing is allowed to be held. If they wanted to do another one somewhere else Parliament would need to pass a new bill specifically for it.

And while they're pretending to be 'green' it's not going to happen :(

Testing at rockingham, Daniel Ricciardo fastest once again.

I think he is the man to beat this year. Even though he is a rookie, hes just driving this car as if hes been doing it for years!

That field is utterly crap, though, so it will mean about as much as Pizza boy's win in 2000.

And look where he is now.

Yeah, the field testing is pretty desparate. I think Tandy is pretty decent, but a lot of of the other names could well be out of their depth, at least it'll make the season interesting...

The field is desent, Ricciardo will probably win it easily, which will be expected.

Does anyone know if British f3 has a stream or is shown live anywhere?

British F3 hasn't been shown live for many (never?) years, expect there'll be highlights a week after on Channel 4 and MotorsTV.

It's never been shown live (on terrestrial) as far as I'm aware, and I've been watching it since 1991.

It really isn't.

The only people in that field apart from Ricciardio who might amount to something are Nick Tandy and possibly Wayne Boyd. Aside from that, you've got the shittier Chilton (in his 3rd season of Brirish F3), the shittier Christodoulou, a Nakajima who probably won't match his brother in anything other than the crashing department and a whole host of midfield FRenault drivers from last year and a few imports from other countries.

This is, by far and away, the weakest field since at least 2000. Ricciardio will likely waste them. But he needs to be careful when he moves up to the Euroseries or GP2 because the level of competition will be significantly greater than it is in British F3 this year.

I can't help but feel that doing the British F3 is going to hinder him more than anything, he really needs really tough competition

It may give him confidence winning alot. I did also speak to him last year (before he signed for british f3). He said it was up to red bull where they placed him, in either euro or british f3. He also said if he does well in 2009 he will look for gp2. So he should dominate this season, and will most likely go to gp2, unless redbull want him to do euro next season, which is what hartley did.

Having confidence is necessary but if he wins a lot this year and then is caught out next year by the level of competition then he'll lose that confidence. It's what happened to Pizzonia, who was out of his depth in F3000 in 2001 and never properly recovered. He did show on occasion in F1 what he was capable of with his Williams drives (IIRC Brundle named him driver of the day at the 2004 Italian GP), but he was never the same driver who dominated British FRenault in 1999 and then British F3 in 2000.

That is true for sure. Im sure even if he did have more competition, he will still be up front. Hes developing into a very fine race car driver, would be awesome if red bull can give him a test this year or the next to see what hes got in a F1 car.

Ricciardo is just being smart, he propably would have been able to get a seat in the euroseries, but he would have terrible competition out there

now he can show again how good he is, like in Formula Renault, and move on to the Euroseries and be shure of a topseat in both this season and next season

Grubmuller and Chilton take poles. But Daniel Ricciardo is the man who wins race 1. Apparently Chilton jumped the start very obviously and got given a 1 minute penalty. Race 2 im guessing is later today?

It was Gabriel Dias who rolled in the 1st lap of race 2.

And, yes, Ricciardio did the double.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/74452

He really needs to do some one-off Euroseries races or something.

Senna got in GP2 with only a 3th place in British F3, ok his name helped him, but I am shure Ricciardo can go GP2 with only a British F3
