Those Ferrari's would need to be modified to race on ovals though, won't be good for the driver to go backwards into concrete. Although fortunately the likelihood is lessened by the SAFER barrier.

As ugly and weird as it looks I'm actually rather interested in seeing how such a car would race.

I think Matchbox has done better job with their open-wheeled cars compared to these concepts...

"Concept" - just the modern word for pretty, makes people go 'oooo, aaaah', but we'll never build it. We already had similar concepts from design students last year, that went as far as including the Target logo as a physical object on the car.

If everyone is doing this, maybe we should also do few concepts. A racing fans view of a proper IndyCar (don't post picture of 1995 Reynard, please) of the future. Maybe something between the original A1GP-car and DP1, mixed with G-force 2004 Indycar, without looking too much like it.

Change the flick ups in front of the rear wheels and I think it'll be perfect.

You might want to use a chassis with key safety upgrades.

IZOD likely to become title sponsor of IndyCar

Quote:
It's been speculated for several months that IZOD would become the third title sponsor for the Indy Racing League its inception in 1996 and IRL officials were in New York City this week trying to finalize the details.

Originally the clothing outfitter of IndyCar, IZOD was a major advertiser of the series in 2009 and spent a reported $6 million. It also had a personal services contract with driver Ryan Hunter-Reay..

The new deal is supposedly worth $10 million a year and is rumored to include $100,000 per car plus some help for Hunter-Reay in landing a full-time ride for 2010. It's not known whether the series will be called the IZOD IndyCar series or the IndyCar series presented by IZOD and the length of the contract is believed to be three or five years.

Penske is likely have three car team with Power, Briscoe, and Castroneves

Quote:
It's looking like Will Power will be in a third car for Team Penske for all of 2010, IZOD is finalizing plans to be the series sponsor and, after months and miles of exploring and negotiations, it appears the 2010 season will, indeed, open in Brazil.

171,000 viewers for a three-way championship decider season finale is appalling.

Take out Indy 500 and it turns out that road and street races have higher TV ratings than oval races.
