That was a great race.

Surprised that we didn't see drivers trying to be a bit clever with the DRS zone. It was such an advantage down the backstraight, that the car with DRS was often ahead before the hairpin. If you know that you're going to be overtaken, you could allow your rival through at turn two, and then have DRS to take the place back down the backstraight.

Amazed they're all running. What a clumsy start.

Erratic start, but no collisions.

It'll take a while to work out the results. Time penalties everywhere.

Am I the only one who sees a problem with what happened with Sirotkin in race 1?

- He pitted under VSC, losing less time than he would have during a normal stop and as such remained towards the front of the field.
- Since he essentially had a free stop he was able to get back to the front on new tyres.
- He was the told to pit again, effectively putting him back on 0 stops, but with fresher tyres and better track position than quite a few who genuinely hadn't stopped. He was also ahead of those who had pitted legally.
- As a number of drivers were also on 0 stops, he basically lost nothing to them while serving the "penalty". Those who had already pitted, passed him.
- Due to the "penalty" allowing him to change tyres again, he found himself better off than those who'd pitted before he took the "penalty" and passed them easily.

So, the stewards have now reached a point where they're handing out penalties which benefit the driver they're supposed to be penalising! Ridiculous!

Giovanazzi snatches pole from Gasly.

Sirotkin 13th, Rowland 15th and Evans way down in 19th.
